This lovely heirloom frisee-style endive has curly ruffled leaves that make a great addition to gourmet salads. Heads reach 12-15" in diameter. Endive and Escarole or members of the chicory genus of plants. Endive tends to have narrow, curly leaves (Frisee) while Escarole have broader leaves. These varieties are particularly well-suited for cutting as they re-grow readily. Great for both spring and fall plantings. Plant in the spring after danger of last frost when soil warms to 450F. Plant in early fall for late-season harvests well after first frost. Endive and Escarole are high in many vitamins and minerals, particularly vitamins A and K, along with folate (B9), and manganese.
